Do you think culture icons took over some holidays?

Resurrection day is about jesus and is now easter with a rabbit.Christmas is a day about Jesus's birth and is now about a fat man in a red coat who brings presents.I am not religious but the point i am trying to make is people loose sight of why that day became a holiday.What other holidays do you know of were took over by a cultural icon?
